Whilst the series has no installments in development, Arkane Studios’ Lead Designer, Ricardo Bare, has stated that he couldn’t “say definitively what might happen down the road”.
In an interview with VG24/7, Arkane Studios’ Lead Designer, Ricardo Bare revealed that there isn’t much of a conclusive plan as to what Arkane Studios will do next. Bare stated in the interview “I can’t say definitively what might happen down the road, anything could happen, but [Dishonored] is resting for now”. It’s not surprising, as the Dishonored franchise reached a reportedly satisfying conclusion with the series’ third installment: Dishonored: Death Of The Outsider, released late last year.
He went on saying “As far as pure immersive sims go, I don’t know if we’re going to continue to make like carbon copy – this qualifies as an immersive sim and it’s the only thing we’re ever going to make…we’re always going to craft spaces that you feel like you’re visiting, whether it’s Dunwall or Talos 1.”
It’ll be interesting to see what Arkane Studios does develop next, considering their previous work on the Dishonored franchise, and last year’s Prey reboot. The last project that they released into the wild was a DLC expansion for Prey, titled “Mooncrash”. An additional multiplayer mode called “Typhoon Hunter”, a mode inspired by Garry’s Mod’s “Prop Hunt”, is also on it’s way for Prey.
