EA: No-one likes linear single player games anymore! Playstation: Hold My Beer.
God of War has now been out for a little over a month, and has since broken the record for fastest selling exclusive on Playstation 4, Again. It was announced by Sony in a recent meeting with investors, that God of War sold over 5 million copies in it’s first month.
This comes after God of War sold 3 million copies in it’s first three days, breaking sales records for any PS4 exclusive back then as well. This beat the likes of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End which sold 2.7 Million copies over a week, and Horizon Zero Dawn with 2.6 million in two weeks.
It also comes after a statement from EA executive Blake Jorgensen, that said (in reference to cancelling Visceral’s Star Wars Project) “…It continued to look like a much more linear game, [which] people don’t like as much today as they did five years ago or ten years ago…” As a result, since God of Wars began selling at a staggering pace, people have since begun mocking EA for this view on linear story games, with Cory Barlog, the Creative Director behind God of War, pitching in.
From article about EA exec commenting on Visceral game – “As we kept reviewing the game, it continued to look like a much more linear game [which] people don't like as much today as they did five years ago or 10 years ago," Jorgensen said – oh dear god EA, just utter nonsense! pic.twitter.com/KN0JOPhnNq
