Edmund McMillen has declared that it is “the year of Isaac.”
A couple of days ago, Nicalis Inc. tweeted a new reveal for the Binding Of Isaac series: A seemingly new expansion called Repentance. The game itself was not shown, but has been confirmed for an appearance in the upcoming PAX West Expo. The logo also looks eerily similar to that of a fan-made expansion for The Binding Of Isaac: “Antibirth”. At the time of “Antibirth”‘s development, McMillan had exspressed interest in providing official mod support for the fan-made project. One theory going around the internet as a result, is that Repentance will incorporate either just “Antibirth” into the main game, or many fan-made mods, into an official expansion.

This comes after a card game, The Binding Of Isaac: Four Souls, had been announced, and was funded on Kickstarter with over $2 Million Pledged USD by fans for the game to be made, featuring characters and items from the well known franchise. The Binding Of Isaac Afterbirth (the most recent version of the game) earned an 85 on metacritic for it’s Nintendo Switch and PC versions.
We’ll have to wait and see what the game is when it is revealed at PAX West.
